Description Fine, Dark violet coloured spray dried powder, without any odour and having a feeble astringent test.
Solubility 10% w/v Easily soluble in water, practically Insoluble in most of the organic solvents like Acetone, Ethanol, and, propanol.
Clarity 1. 1% solution in water clear without any sedimentation.
2. 1% solution in 1N Hydrochloric Acid gives colorless to pale yellow clear solution.
Identification Ferrous Iron Gives blue colour to potassium ferricyanide.
Ascorbic Acid Gives orange - red colour to Di-nitro phenyl hydrazine reagent.
